Third Year Extension and Modification of
Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Strategic Five-Year Plan
San Diego City & San Diego County Local Investment Area

Congress, as of this date, has not yet reauthorized the Workforce Investment Act of 1998.  In the interim, the State Employment Development Department is extending the WIA Strategic Five Year Local Plan for a third year.  The San Diego Workforce Partnership, as the grant recipient for the San Diego Consortium, a joint powers agency of the City of San Diego, and the County of San Diego, has completed the extension.  The draft plan is published and made available for a thirty-day public review and comment period.

A public hearing on the Plan will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2007, in the Community Room at the address given below.

The Program year 2007-2008 allocations total $15,916,886, which is, overall, 5% less than the funding for PY 2006-2007.  the reduction is in the Dislocated Worker program.

Comments from the public on the draft plan will be submitted to the Workforce Investment Board when it reviews the draft at its meeting on November 15, 2007, and to the Consortium Policy Board at its meeting on November 30, 2007. The Plan will then be sent to the State. When approved, a copy of the final plan will be posted on Workforce Partnership's website (www.SanDiegoAtWork.com) and be available at the Workforce Partnership's office for continuing review.
