SAN DIEGO COUNTY OCCUPATIONAL OUTLOOK REPORT
The Occupational Outlook Report is an annual study on occupations in San Diego County providing information on education, training, experience, wages, benefits, skills and more. Review the current and past reports.
SAN DIEGO COUNTY INDUSTRY CLUSTER REPORTS
In-depth studies of the workforce in growing local industry clusters. A national study on the Biotechnology industry and a study on the Life Sciences cluster in San Diego County. These were built on a project that developed common industry and occupational definitions for use throughout the nation. Available for viewing are recent studies on San Diego County's healthcare sector and hospitality industry. Healthcare Jobs, a booklet for youth that describes the employment opportunities in the healthcare sector in the county; a healthcare poster that graphically displays a variety of career opportunities in several career ladders in the healthcare industry; and hospitality brochures in Spanish and English that describe job opportunities and career paths in the hospitality industry in the region. The booklet, poster, and brochures are available at no cost to area schools and counseling offices, and career centers. Contact the San Diego Workforce Partnership, 619-228-2934, for details.
LIFE SCIENCES SUMMER INSTITUTE CITED FOR BEST PRACTICES
The San Diego Workforce Partnership’s Life Sciences Summer Institute (LSSI) is featured among best practices in biotechnology programs from around the world. The book, edited by Yali Friedman, Ph.D. of thinkBiotech LLC, has pulled together 22 international best practices in K-12, certificate, college, master's, doctoral, MBA, and distance education programs. The LSSI program is featured in its own chapter titled: A Model for Connecting Students and Teachers to the Biotechnology Industry Cluster in San Diego County.
The LSSI program was made possible through funding by the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration, and received support from the San Diego Workforce Partnership, BIOCOM, and from incredible partnerships with Biogen Idec, Invitrogen Corporation, Southern California Biotechnology Center at Miramar College, and the Amgen Foundation - all organizations provided additional financial assistance to support and sustain the program.
Additionally, the program received support from local life sciences host companies and research institutes, Cal State San Marcos, San Diego County Office of Education, and San Diego Science Alliance.
